Spicy Beef Burger with Asian Slaw

1.5kg Lean beef mince
10 Brioche or milk burger buns, toasted Chips, to serve

Asian Slaw
2 tbs Extra virgin olive oil
60mL Apple cider vinegar
3 Apples, cored and cut into matchsticks
3 Carrots, julienne
2 Red onions, thinly sliced
1 Red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
2 Tsp fresh coriander, chopped
100g Baby rocket leaves

Spicy Mayo
100mL Sriracha sauce

Preparation Steps
  • To make the Asian Slaw whisk together the oil and vinegar in a medium bowl. Add apple, carrot, onion, coriander, rocket leaves and chilli and toss to combine. Sprinkle in sesame seeds and season with salt and pepper.

  • To make the Spicy Mayo whisk mayonnaise, tomato sauce and sriracha sauce in a medium bowl.

  • Preheat grill on high. Mix the mince, worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, salt and pepper together in a bowl. Shape the mince into 10 x 150g sized balls. Heat a large heavy frying pan over high heat. Add 2 mince balls to pan and using a sturdy spatula immediately press on mince balls to flatten into about 1cm-thick patties. Cook for 2 mins or until base is browned and crisp. Turn patties and cook for a further 2 mins, or until browned and cooked through. Transfer patties to a large baking tray. Repeat to cook remaining mince balls.

  • Spread bun bases with Spicy Mayo and place patties on bun bases. Top with Asian Slaw and cover with bun top. Serve with chips and extra Spicy Mayo.

  • Tip: Replace the minced patty with a 200g beef steak for a ‘customised’ variation.
